Sam Lopez
About Me
Hi, my name is Sam Lopez and I’m a Mexican-American visual designer and user experience designer from Texas. I have a background in fine arts and bring my enthusiasm and out-of-the-box creative thinking to all my projects. I’m extremely self-motivated and thrive in fast-paced environments where I can collaborate with my peers. I have a passion for breaking complex topics down to be easily understandable and strive to create work that is inclusive to a wide range of people with different backgrounds and abilities. When I’m not designing professionally, you can often find me utilizing my eye for design to explore creative hobbies such as ceramics or illustration.
Project Description
Food Magnet is a high-fidelity prototype for a mobile application that connects local food trucks with hungry customers. Customers can view menus, preorder food, and request trucks for events, while truck owners can reliably find new customers.
What is one piece of advice you would provide to new ATEC students?
Getting involved in campus organizations for fields you’re passionate about is a great way to meet new people and gain valuable interpersonal and professional experience! I would not be the designer I am today if I hadn’t been encouraged to do so my freshman year.
What’s your favorite memory of ATEC?
When my friends helped organize Re-Prom, so that all of us LGBTQ+ kids who weren’t able to have good experiences at school dances in high school had the opportunity to go with who we wanted, wear what we wanted, and be our authentic selves in a welcoming environment.
